Today I'm switching things up
I have no article
Mainly because I want to address something important and also there was no good articles. Most of the articles I could of covered would of just sounded like repetition of all my previous posts.
Unless you would like to read about how Tom Cruise was casted in some boring film that you're not going to watch unless it goes on Netflix.

Though let us move on to the topic.
Now this topic isn't really for film students but more just for the future ahead.
It's the topic of having a brand and a series of films. Hollywood is big on just resurrecting old ideas and films.
They just drag them on for miles squeezing out every last penny.
It is a quite a sad thing to see but people still go and spend money to see the film. It's a constant cycle that some of you future filmmakers may get wrapped up in. Now though every once in a while they actually resurrect the franchise beautifully.
Like for example the last batman trilogy and the recent X Men film.
I had lost hope in X Men films but this last one brought together good action with good story. So ask yourself what will you lean towards?
Are you trying to create that wow factor or a gripping storyline?
It's not always easy to do both so prepare yourself for what is to come

What is your opinion on Hollywood films? Should they keep the series going or just let them die in peace? Do you like to see the same stories you're comfortable with or introduced to something unique and confusing?

Cannes 2014:

Welcome back readers!
I've decided today I will be nice and get straight to the topic.
Now I bring up the Cannes festival because it might be some thing that us student filmmakers might 
be interested in entering. Now there is plenty of film festivals to enter but the Cannes festival is like 
the grandest of them all. It is definitely an honor to have one of your films selected and even chosen
as the winner. This article and post is mainly for the student filmmaker who is more ambitious and
into the art side. If you are truly poetic and passionate for film looking into the Cannes festival may
be something of great interest for you. Now the reason I bring it up is because now the competiton
has gotten a lot stronger.

So as a student filmmaker what techniques will you use in order to win or be entered in the festival?
Basically what can you bring to the table and what makes you as a director unique? These are things
you should already be thinking about for when you want to set out for your future career in film. 13 out
of the 19 directors at Cannes have been previously nominated. Which means the chances for a new
director are very slim. So it is important to stay on top of your game and discover new innovative 
ways of creating and expanding film.

Hello again and welcome to my boring blog story. Honestly I feel sorry for anyone who has to read this. Though enough of making jokes about my 5 readers. Today we will be talking about the subject of death.
¡BEWARE!

Not just any death! The death of prized actors! Now this has been a problematic thing for many Hollywood films and just in general.

As a student filmmaker what do you do if one of your actors is no longer available? Do you continue the film and alter the story? Do you completely abandon the film and show respect towards the actor?
In the film industry we are given hard decisions sometimes. Though for big budget films they can always resort to CGI. For us small time filmmaker we don't have that opportunity. Though in the end the point of this post is to ask about your morals. Ask yourself what would be right in that situation. Prepare yourself for real scenarios in the film industry.

Shout out to the Peeps

Well today I have totally lost all faith in the world. I'm so sad I'm not even going to bother insulting my readers. I recently read an article that confirmed a movie about marshmallow Peeps will be made…
Now I loved the Lego movie and usually I support really obscure films. Though now things have gotten out of control. The only reason I bring this up is because I am truly concerned for the future of the film industry. As a young filmmaker how do you feel about a film like this being made? Do you think we should focus on more serious things? If a film like this does good in the box office will that inspire more people to make films serious? Now I ask you will you make stories that you want to see or stories that the audience will enjoy? It is very sad to see that some films that have very deep meanings get hardly any money in the box office.

THE FUTURE (continued)

Yo yo what's up brothers and sisters? Guess what today is? Today is the day you waste your time reading my terribly written blog. I'm deeply sorry if you must read all of this.

So now to the topic of the future which we spoke about last time with 4D theaters. Though now I'm finding out there will be AMC Prime and new updates to Imax. Now this all amazing but what happened to the simple love for movies. I feel like this is just an excuse to make huge blockbuster films lacking emotion and any thought from the audience. Now I love the idea of getting a new experience to the film so I am open to it. Though for new filmmakers this is going to be a hard facing challenge. The competition is only going to get harder with this new technology. Also the budgets for films are going to be much larger so if the film flops it can cause a lot of damage.

Also there's no words on how much these new theater tickets will cost. There are plenty of pros and cons to this situation. What if consumers don't buy into these traps and prefer the original feeling of a movie theater?

China Uprising

Hello again... wait never mind who even reads this :/
Today we will be talking about the great empire that will soon be taking over the world in no time. It is quite important to stay alert especially if you plan to be in a business like film. It seems like now every day in the news there is a new story about China. As a young filmmaker joining the business you should study other countries. You must know your market especially for such a huge place like China.

Now if you want to become an actor it might be natural to have some sort of estate in China now. This new uprising in film is worth watching. This can become the new Hollywood leaving us Los Angeles kids in the dust. So I leave you with the question are you willing to make the trip out to China in order to make your audience larger? It is becoming more common for films to have a higher success rate in China then USA. As an actor I would take up the opportunity to go to China but I could imagine that it would also cause many problems. Going from one side of the world to the other can be quite stressful and hard to juggle.

The new emerging China will have both its ups and downs. There is really no predicting what can happen from this point. It is bad for young filmmakers because they can't expand all the way overseas. Though for big budget filmmakers they are probably laughing all the way to the bank. They now have the challenge of both marketing for the US and China. Lucky for them if the film flops in the US they can always rely on China.

THE FUTURE

Hello my fellow lifeless followers who spend their free time roaming the internet. I have returned this week again to speak about the new California so called 4D theaters. This is great news for those people who are consumers. Though it also brings up problems with new filmmakers trying to join the industry. With everything being replaced so fast the industry will only get more and more competitive. It also brings up the question of what are you willing to do to make a film? Are you willing to get your true story out or just help the masses feel joy? On a consumer stand point I think this is absolutely wonderful. Now we get an even more amazing experience when we go to the movies. We are constantly looking for an escape and this is perfect! Though the interesting thing about the concept of these theaters is to see how fast will they catch on. Will people be willing to pay the extra cash for the experience? It is possible that Southern California may reject the concept of the theater. For now we will just have to wait and see. Stay tuned.

California Taxxxes

Ok my fellow homies today we will be discussing something that is not very interesting but worth mentioning. So read on if you like I honestly don't care...
"The loss of big budget pictures cost California $410 million in state and local tax revenue, 47,600 jobs and total economic output of $9.6 billion"


Now the rise of film taxes has started to become a bigger problem as the years go by. The reason why I bring this up is because there are many young filmmakers I know. It is important to regulate the tax because these people are currently living in LA. It's not so easy to shoot out of state even if it is a bit cheaper. With the power of film we can also help repair the state of California. The film industry is very vital to the state of California.

"The state film incentive program generated an 11% return on investment in its first three years and helped generate $4.3 billion in economic activity and 22,300  jobs"

Now that China plays a huge role in the film industry do you think it is possible that Hollywood will direct more films to that audience? Will more Asian actors be in films? As a student director will you try and make your audience bigger or stick to your original vision. What matters to you box office numbers or the meaning of your film to the audience. Do you think that now we will see more Chinese films being produced? Possibly more Chinese directors will start to rise up in USA. Do you think that it is possible that China will take over the film industry? As a student director would you move out to China for box office numbers or better success rate?

LOOK OUT… (not really)

Today's article will be about the upcoming Academy Awards!!!! (not really that exciting)
If you are thinking about joining the film industry you may want to take notes! (not really)
-maybe a mental note-
In the past I talked about who the voters are but now I'm talking about how the voters choose the winners. There are very specific things that voters look for in order to determine the winners.
One voter says "I look for quality and originality, and how it moves me emotionally and as an artist"
So it is important if you are ever thinking about making it into the Oscars try to develop your very own voice. Take notes of opinion but ultimately do what makes you happy. At all costs get your own personal story across to the big screen.
If you're into acting or want to direct your actors well take this into note "I look for someone that doesn't have a lot of artifice," and also this "If a performance is great but the movie doesn't resonate, that will sometimes detract."

Today's blog will about the challenges of making a documentary film. Also on how some people may interpret the films wrongly. The article basically talks about how violence can make a successful documentary film. Which I don't want to believe is try but I have noticed many of the documentaries people talk about have some element of violence. In general I prefer documentaries about education and health. Though as a director what do you believe is the key to making a documentary. In my opinion it doesn't matter what the subject is. As long as the person gets their message across to the viewer.

I think it's quite sad that documentary films are budgeted poorly. Most of them teach you very vital things in the world around us. As a consumer who would you like to have more of a budget, education films or entertainment films? It's interesting to read about such things like this because documentaries are very competitive. This will be a great challenge for upcoming filmmakers.

DISQUALIFIED

Hello welcome back all my of my 6 readers.Today I'd like to talk once again  about the Oscars. Now the problem that has occurred is over a song nominee.One of the songs nominated is now being disqualified. The reason why it's being disqualified though is because it went against the rules of the academy. Even though I never seen it directly stated apparently you can't send the song with email during the vote process. Though I understand why the person did this because they obviously just want to be recognized by the academy. As a filmmaker and a student this teaches you how to market your things correctly. Marketing is definitely key in a big business like film making. Do you think the punishment was just the right amount or could the academy relax on the issue? Was it fair for all the other people trying to get nominated?

THE ACADEMY!!!

I believe this a good article to write about because I have always wondered who determined the Oscars. There are exactly 5,675 members who decide who takes home that golden award. The part that bothered me though is that 94% of the members are white. This can be bad for future directors if they want to win. The last thing we want are biased people in the academy. Even worse 74% of the academy is men. I believe that the academy should be 50% women and 50% men. It's important to know this especially for people who want to be big in Hollywood.

As a consumer we think what ever the academy nominates is good. So we go out and see or buy that film. Without us even knowing the people behind the academy are actually making decisions for us. I believe we should have stricter rules on who can be in the academy. I also want to know how people apply to be in the academy. There should be some way that we can gather all the cultures to be in the academy. One last thing is that I'd love to see younger people in the academy. Sadly there is only a very little amount of people under 40. Only about 4% is under 40.
